Lease to own: pay for your name over 12 months

Names listed at $5,000 or more can be paid in 12 monthly payments, with no interest. Escrow.com keeps the name until the last payment, then transfers it to you. While you pay, you can already point it at your website.

How it works

  1. Pick a name listed at $5,000 or more. Its listing shows the monthly figure.
  2. Ask for the plan from the listing. We confirm the schedule in writing before the first payment.
  3. You pay Escrow.com each month. Escrow.com keeps the name under its Domain Name Holding service.
  4. After the 12th payment, Escrow.com transfers the name to your registrar account.

What you pay each month

0% interest means the price is divided by 12 with nothing added for paying later. What the plan does add is Escrow.com’s charge for keeping the name safe until it is yours. You pay those fees, and the monthly figure on the listing already includes them:

Two charges depend on your own choices and are not in the figure: $85 for each change Escrow.com makes to the name while it keeps it, such as pointing it at your website, and any charge your bank or card provider makes for a payment.

Example: Khotwa.com at $6,189

Price, divided by 12$515.75
Escrow.com transaction fee ($148.54), divided by 12$12.38
Escrow.com holding fee$100.00
Each month$628.13

Over 12 months you pay $7,537.56: the $6,189 price and $1,348.56 in Escrow.com fees.

Paying off early

You can pay off the plan at any time. Pay the rest of the price and of Escrow.com’s transaction fee, and Escrow.com transfers the name to you straight away; no further holding fees are charged.

When paying outright costs less

The holding fee is at least $100 a month, so the plan adds more to a lower price. If you buy outright, the Escrow.com fee is already in the listed price and nothing is added.

$5,000$527.50$6,330.00$1,330.00

If a payment is late

If a payment is more than 7 days late, the plan is in default. If it is not brought up to date, Escrow.com returns the name to the owner, the plan ends, and payments already made are not refunded. Purchase Terms set out the full conditions.
